Dunkin’ Donuts Launches RTD Espresso Drinks

Rollout begins in chain’s retail sites and will spread to grocery and convenience stores

CANTON, Mass. -- First teased in the Coca-Cola Co. booth during the 2017 NACS Show, Dunkin’ Donuts launched its Shot in the Dark coffee-espresso blend in 8.1-ounce cans this week.

Manufactured and distributed by the Coca-Cola Co., Shot in the Dark combines the tastes of Dunkin’s signature coffee and espresso "for a bold new way to keep recharged, refreshed and running on Dunkin’, anytime, anywhere," the company said.

Served in a slim can, Shot in the Dark ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages deliver Dunkin’ Donuts’ coffee with a touch of cream and sugar, combined with espresso for a full-bodied, rich, smooth coffee espresso blend. Offered in three flavors—Caramel, Mocha and Vanilla—each can of Shot in the Dark contains 80 calories. Shot in the Dark can be found now in select retail locations, and its availability will continue to expand through 2019 at U.S. convenience and grocery stores.

“Our fans have loved our ready-to-drink iced coffees as a great way to power through their day with Dunkin’ anytime and anywhere,” said Brian Gilbert, vice president, retail business development of Dunkin’ Donuts, Canton, Mass. “Now, for the coffee-loving consumers who want something a little bolder than a traditional cup of coffee, but not as strong as a shot of espresso, our Shot in the Dark creates an exciting and energizing new option when on the go.”

Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Co. and its bottling partners have been manufacturing and distributing prepackaged Dunkin’ Donuts-branded bottled beverages since 2017. Dunkin’ Donuts’ prepackaged branded bottled Iced Coffee beverages include Original, Mocha, Espresso, French Vanilla and Cookies & Cream flavors.
