Kraft Foods to Expand Capri Sun Production

New technology, more employees coming to Va. plant

NORTHFIELD, Ill. -- Kraft Foods Group is set to invest $25 million to increase Capri Sun beverages production and deploy new packaging technology at its Winchester plant in Frederick County, Va., according to an Associated Press report.

Capri Sun is a ready-to-drink fruit and vegetable juice drink available in Fruit Punch, Berry and Apple flavors.

The company currently employs around 460 Virginians at its Frederick County operation, and the latest expansion is expected to add an additional 25 jobs.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Frederick County and the Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission to secure the project for Virginia, according to the report.

Gov. Bob McDonnell also approved a $250,000 performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership program.

Frederick County Board of Supervisors chairman Richard Shickle said: "We are pleased that Kraft has continued to invest in our community and look forward to providing a business environment that ensures their continued success in Frederick County."

Kraft Foods Group's brands include Kraft, Maxwell House, Oscar Mayer, Planters and JELL-O.
