7-Eleven Completes Work on Workman Rebrandings

Converts six Apple Markets in Roanoke Valley in Virginia

ROANOKE, Va. -- 7-Eleven Inc. has completed the renovation and rebranding of six Apple Market convenience stores in the Roanoke Valley in Virginia that it acquired from Lynchburg, Va.-based Workman Oil Co. in June, reported WDBJ-TV.

The completion of the rebrandings follows news earlier this week that 7-Eleven has begun rebranding the 188 Wilson Farms stores that it acquired earlier this year in the state of New York. (Click here for previous coverage.)

The Apple Market stores remained open during remodeling, said the report, and they are now equipped to sell 7-Eleven signature products, such as fresh food and grill items, coffee, Slurpee and Big Gulp beverages.

Many of the employees of the Apple Market stores--two located in Roanoke and four in Salem--have stayed on, the report said.

"We took over the first wave of stores back in the beginning of June, the second wave was middle of June, and we've been working hard and steadily at it since then," Eddie Lane, a field consultant for Dallas-based 7-Eleven, told the news outlet.

7-Eleven now has approximately 700 stores in Virginia, said the report.

Workman Oil is the operator of 45 c-stores under the Apple Market banner in central and southwest Virginia and eastern Kentucky. It also owns 13 branded franchise food operations, 30 dealer accounts and fuel transports.

7-Eleven operates, franchises or licenses more than 8,800 7-Eleven stores in North America. Globally, there are approximately 42,700 7-Eleven stores in 16 countries. During 2010, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales close to $63 billion.
