TORONTO -- Becker Milk Co. Ltd., once a major convenience-store chain and now mainly a property owner, is considering a potential sale of the company or another strategic move, including a possible merger.
Becker's store assets were acquired by Silcorp Ltd., parent company of rival Mac's Convenience Stores, in November 1996, and Silcorp itself was acquired by Alimentation Couche-Tard in April 1999.

In a review of strategies "to enhance shareholder value," Becker's said it has hired TD Securities Inc. as its financial adviser, according to a report from the Canadian Press. "There can be no assurance that the strategic review will result in any transaction," the firm said.
