Casey’s Adds CIO to Leadership Team

Restaurant and retail veteran joins company in newly created position

ANKENY, Iowa — Adrian Butler has joined Casey’s General Stores Inc. in the newly created role of chief information officer. Butler will lead all information-technology strategy, innovation, modernization and delivery for the regional convenience-store chain.

“Adrian is a proven leader and technologist with deep experience across the restaurant and retail industries that will take our technology strategy to the next level,” said Darren Rebelez, CEO of Casey’s. “We have a strong leadership team in place at Casey’s, and I know that Adrian will contribute to delivering on our purpose and advancing our strategic plan.”

With more than 20 years of experience in IT leadership in the retail, foodservice and hospitality sectors, Butler most recently served as senior vice president and CIO at Glendale, Calif.-based Dine Brands Global, parent company of the IHOP and Applebee’s restaurant chains. Rebelez was president at IHOP before joining Casey’s in June 2019.

Prior to Dine Brands, Butler spent four years at Minneapolis-based Target Corp. as vice president of business solutions security and senior director of technology services.

  • Casey’s is No. 4 on the Top 40 update to CSP's 2019 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by number of retail outlets. CSP will release the complete 2020 list in June.

Based in Ankeny, Iowa, Casey’s has more than 2,200 convenience stores in 16 states. The Fortune 500 company is the fifth-largest pizza chain in the United States.
