Casey’s Names Chief Merchandising Officer

Convenience and restaurant veteran joins retailer’s leadership team

ANKENY, Iowa — Casey’s General Stores Inc. has named Tom Brennan as chief merchandising officer. Brennan will lead the development and implementation of the company’s overall merchandising and prepared-foods strategy.

“Tom is a tremendous leader with deep experience across the convenience and quick-service restaurant industries that will benefit Casey’s already popular fresh food program and enhance our merchandising strategy,” said CEO Darren Rebelez. “We have a strong leadership team at Casey’s, and I’m confident that Tom will contribute to our collective efforts to make life better for our guests and communities every day.”

Brennan joins Casey’s from CKE Restaurants Holdings Inc., parent of the Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s QSR chains, where he was chief operating officer, responsible for the operations and support of more than 3,000 U.S. restaurants. Prior to CKE, he spent 11 years at Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven Inc. in a variety of leadership roles in merchandising, category management, store development and operations. Before 7-Eleven, he worked in the financial planning and analysis group of Target Corp., Minneapolis.

He also served six years on active duty as an armor officer in the U.S. Army.

“I am honored to join the team at Casey’s to help continue to build this incredible brand and deliver great products conveniently every day to our guests,” said Brennan, who will report to Rebelez.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's General Stores operates more than 2,000 convenience stores in 16 states. It is No. 4 in CSP’s2019 Top 202 ranking of c-store chains by number of retail outlets.
