BLACKSTONE, Mass. -- To mark the grand opening of its newest store and as part of its corporate giving program for youth, Cumberland Farms has presented a $1,000 donation to support the Friends of Blackstone Public Library, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that works to support and fund local programs designed to enrich the community of Blackstone, Mass., as well as enable the public library to keep pace with the town's growth.
Cumberland Farms' donation will help to fund programs such as craft nights, gardening seminars and entertainment events [image-nocss] at the children's library.
The Canton, Mass.-based company has a network of retail stores, gas stations and a support system including petroleum, dairy and grocery distribution operations spans 11 states across the Northeast and Florida.
Through its Corporate Giving Program for Youth, Cumberland Farms said it is working to improve the prospects for young people, to encourage and support young people's achievements in business and leadership and to provide educational opportunities for young people. It sponsors 4-H, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Making Strides for Breast Cancer and provides college scholarships. In addition to annual corporate contributions, the retailer is active at the local level, building awareness and supporting worthy organizations in the communities where it operates.
