EG America has hired Mendy Meriwether (left) as its new vice president of food, dispensed beverage and quick-service restaurants (QSRs), according to a LinkedIn post by the convenience-store company.
She will lead EG America’s future food and beverage strategy and advance the company’s QSR brands and foodservice support teams, ensuring excellence across brand standards, development of core food operations, implementation of new and innovative initiatives and execution of high-level campaigns.
Meriwether was previously at Wawa for more than 20 years, according to her LinkedIn profile. She started as an assortment manager, then became category manager of beverages and, most recently, she was the director of fresh food and beverage.
EG America is introducing three new food concepts at its Cumberland Farms store in New Bedford, Massachusetts, with plans to expand to other locations.
Customers can order Alanza Pizza, Burger Baby and Wing Trip meals either in-store or through DoorDash.
With pizza created by Michele D’Amelio, a native from Naples, Italy, Alanza offers crispy crust and toppings like pesto, slow-cooked Bolognese sauce and meatballs. The pizzas feature Neapolitan techniques with the flavors synonymous with the Italian-American dining hot spots of New York and New Jersey.
Burger Baby nods to tradition before putting a new spin on classic smash-style burgers with truffle aioli, sweet-and-tangy barbecue sauce and more. The burgers come from butcher Pat LaFrieda and are served on soft, toasted rolls.
Wing Trip's menu combines classic chicken wing flavors, like Buffalo and Lemon Pepper, with new-school inspirations from around the world, like Spicy Miso, Tandoori Wings and Nashville Hot.
The convenience-store chain also named Diana Styles (right) as chief human resources officer.
Styles replaced Sandra Tierney, who recently retired. She will lead the development and execution of EG America’s human resource strategy, which includes talent acquisition, talent development and management, change management, organizational and performance management, benefits and compensation, training and human resource data management.
Styles, whose HR career spans more than 27 years, most recently led commercial human resources for Adidas where she supported 57,000 employees across retail, wholesale, franchise and e-commerce.
“We are excited to welcome Diana and Mendy to the EG America team," said John Carey, president and CEO of EG America. "They are both very accomplished in their respective fields and bring a level of expertise to EG America that is essential to our long-term growth strategy. As we look ahead, with their guidance and support as new leaders on our team, we will continue to innovate and evolve to drive our business forward.”
