JAMESVILLE, N.Y. -- Francis "Frank" Borer, 67, of Jamesville, N.Y., passed away at his home on December 5. Borer was the founder and CEO of Petr-All Petroleum Corp. and Express Mart Convenience Stores.
Located in DeWitt, N.Y., Petr-All owns and operates 70 Express Mart convenience stores and gas stations, all located in upstate New York.
The chain's tagline is "Around the Clock Convenience." Many of the stores are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
On its Facebook page, Express Mart said, "The Express Mart Nation mourns the passing of a great man. Founder and CEO Frank Borer passed away peacefully Friday night. We will continue to honor him by striving to be the best."
One representative comment read, "The physical body that is Frank Borer may have left this earth, but his spirit and legend will always remain, a community supporter, a small business supporter, but most importantly, a great loving father, husband, friend and leader. … Rest in peace my friend, you will forever be in the hearts of so many."
Born in Utica on Dec. 8, 1946, he was the son of Arnold and Gertrude Borer, and was raised on Edelweiss Dairy Farm in Freedom, N.Y. He opened the first Express Mart in 1989.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, one son, five sisters, six brothers, nine grandchildren and more.
