Fire Damages Kum & Go HQ

No injuries reported

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Fire broke out Friday morning in a building housing the headquarters of the Kum & Go convenience stores, reported the Associated Press.

The fire was contained to a room housing generators and electrical panels, said Mike Whitsell of the West Des Moines, Iowa, fire department. The building has a sprinkler system, which was activated by the fire and contained it to the room, he said.

There were no reports of injuries.

The headquarters lost power for most of the day Friday, senior [image-nocss] vice president of marketing Jack Wilkie told CSP Daily News. It was restored late Friday afternoon. All systems are now up and running. We're still investigating the cause and damage, he said on Saturday.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go operates more than 420 stores in Iowa and 12 other states, primarily in the Midwest, and has 3,500 employees.
