An expansion of Sheetz's technology and innovation office hub in Pittsburgh will give the retailer space “to further develop, test and implement transformative products and services,” according to the company.

Sheetz was joined Thursday by more than 100 local business leaders and elected officials to officially open the company’s expanded office space in Pittsburgh’s Bakery Square commercial development inside a former industrial bakery. The new 20,000-square-foot office neighbors Sheetz’s existing Bakery Square office location, which opened in October of 2019. The office officially doubles Sheetz’s footprint in Pittsburgh and supports the company’s overall growth, the company said.

  • Sheetz is No. 12 on CSP’s 2023 Top 40 update to its 2022 Top 202 ranking of the largest U.S. convenience-store chains by company-owned store count. Watch for the full 2023 Top 202 in June.

“Our mission at Sheetz is to create a business that puts the Sheetz as we know it today out of business,” said Emily Sheetz, vice president for strategy and IT at Sheetz. “The expansion of our office space at Bakery Square will allow us to further develop, test and implement transformative products and services that will help Sheetz meet and surpass customer demand for the ultimate one-stop shop.”

This new office space will house members of Sheetz’s IT, data and innovations departments, as well as its corporate employees who reside in the area.

In recognition of the opening, Sheetz donated $5,000 to the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.

Established in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Sheetz Inc. operates more than 670 store locations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
