ALTOONA, Pa. — Sheetz Inc. is planning to expand its presence in western Pennsylvania by as many as 30 locations within the next three-to-five years. RBG Development Inc., a commercial real estate acquisition development firm and exclusive developer for the convenience-store retailer, has engaged commercial real estate services and investment firm CBRE Group to assist with site selection.

Dallas-based CBRE, in partnership with RBG, Pittsburgh, will source and negotiate the acquisition of approximately 1.5- to 3.0-acre high-traffic and high-visibility sites.

The expansion effort comes as convenience stores have benefited from shifts in consumer behavior because of increased consumer mobility. According to Sheetz, there is still plenty of room for growth in western Pennsylvania, and it will look to enter new communities throughout the region.

  • Sheetz is No. 13 on CSP’s 2022 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by company-owned store count.

Established in 1952, Sheetz is based in Altoona, Pa., in the western part of the state. The company operates more than 650 convenience stores throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.

“Even though Sheetz has a long history in western Pennsylvania, there are many areas that could benefit from the 24/7 convenience that our company provides,” said Brian Dinges, assistant vice president of real estate for the chain.

The retailer also announced recently that it would expand in the Dayton, Ohio, market by approximately 20 locations over the next five years.

CBRE’s integrated suite of services includes facilities, transaction and project management; property management; investment management; appraisal and valuation; property leasing; strategic consulting; property sales; mortgage services; and development services.

RBG was founded 2003 for the acquisition development and construction of commercial real estate. It provides expertise in site selection, market analysis, land planning, permitting and obtaining development entitlements.
