Not So Little General

W.Va. retailer opens 100th retail location

LOGAN, W.Va. -- Little General Store Inc. proudly announces the opening of the former The Oaks Plaza Quick Stop and The Oaks Plaza Quick Stop Tavern located in Logan, West Va. This makes Little General's sixth location in Logan County and--including 15 freestanding foodservice locations--its 100th overall retail location.

The store is located beside the Fountain Place Mall in Logan. It was opened at the end of 2008 by Kenny Cox, and ran by the Cox Family until it closed in April 2011.

Little General Store's director of retail, Brian Waugh said, "We are very excited [image-nocss] to welcome back the employees and customers of the former The Oaks Plaza Quick Stop to the Little General Family. Located within our existing territory, this business has been known for providing quality goods and customer service since it was opened."

He added, "We are excited about the possibilities with this location, and we look forward to meeting the convenience and gaming needs of the people of Logan and surrounding areas for many years to come by offering everything to everyone."

Waugh said, "This location will also have an ATM, New River Coffee and everyday value on staples such as milk, pop, snacks, beer, wine, cigarettes, tobacco and movie rentals. We look forward to leveraging our strengths and operating capability to further expand the Little General business model by offering great prices in convenient places to the residents and miners of Logan County and the Southern West Virginia Coalfields."

This makes the second Little General Store to open up in the last week, as a new store was opened at Weston (pictured) in Lewis County, W.Va., on May 13.

Beckley, W.Va.-based Little General Store, owned by Cory Beasley and Greg Darby, operates 85 convenience stores, with 83 stores in West Virginia and two stores in Virginia. The company is a franchisee for 28 Subways, 15 Godfather's Pizza's, 11 Sam's Hot Dog Stands, seven Burger King's, six Arby's, four Taco Bell's, three Krispy Krunchy Chicken Stands, two Steak Escape's and the 79er Restaurant in Burnsville, W.Va.
