Dresser Wayne Exec Named to National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition Board

Negley helped design company's E85 products

AUSTIN, Texas -- Scott Negley, Dresser Wayne's director of dispenser product management, has been asked to serve on the board of the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition (NEVC).

Negley will join representatives of major automobile makers, ethanol producers, corn growers and fuel dispenser manufacturers on the NEVC board. The national nonprofit organization is an advocate for the use of E85, an alternative fuel composed of 85% ethyl alcohol (ethanol) and 15% petroleum.

I think the NEVC has made an exceptional choice in selecting [image-nocss] Scott to sit on its board, said Gray Taylor, Dresser Wayne's vice president of global marketing and business development. His industry experience, technical knowledge and enthusiasm for alternative fuels will be a tremendous asset. He has been a key contributor here at Dresser Wayne in developing new alternative fuel-compatible products, and I know that expertise will translate to the NEVC board's activities.

Michelle Kautz, NEVC director of communications, said, His product knowledge will be invaluable as we work to create an infrastructure and attempt to put guidelines and regulations in place for E85 product components.

With more than two decades of experience in the retail fueling industry, Negley was instrumental in helping design and launch Dresser Wayne's own line of E85-compatible fuel dispensers. He will assist the NEVC board in helping secure nongovernmental funding sources for E85 development, in seeking tax credits for drivers of flexible-fuel vehicles (FFVs), which can use E85 or gasoline interchangeably, and in creating a set of standardized regulations for E85 dispenser components.

There is obviously a great deal of industry interest in ethanol, said Negley. And it's more than simply academic interest. Consumers are clamoring for cheaper, more environmentally friendly alternative fuels. Lawmakers are also beginning to actively promote alternate fuel options for a variety of economic, environmental and security reasons. I think the confluence of those factors will create a very favorable environment for increased ethanol applications, and I'm excited to be able to use the technical and practical expertise I've attained through Dresser Wayne to help the NEVC board address these important issues.

Alternative fuels, including E85, received a major publicity boost following President Bush's State of the Union address in January, in which he laid out an energy plan designed to reduce U.S. gasoline usage by 20% within the next decade. He called for a mandatory production goal of 35 billion gallons of renewable alternative fuels like ethanol by 2017, nearly five times the level now targeted by law for 2012.

Dresser Wayne, Austin, Texas, is a business unit of Dresser Inc., and it is an industry pioneer for the retail fueling industry. Among its innovations, Dresser Wayne was the first to introduce self-service consoles and fuel blending dispensers to service stations, in-pump card readers and cash acceptors, in-pump radio frequency identification payment systems and dispenser-mounted touch screen payment/communication systems. In addition, it designs and markets software systems that enable its retail fueling customers to manage the convenience store aspects of their businesses more efficiently, including inventory control, pricebook management, labor management and site administration.
