The stores are displaying a poster created to draw customer attention to the promotion. Some stores are already reordering to refill their display. Pencils collected at the stores will be distributed to students through Chicago public [image-nocss] schools and neighboring school districts in which 7-Eleven operates stores.
Suggested retail price for the 10-pencils pack is $1.19 cents.
The company also is donating 1,500 backpacks full of school supplies for Chicago elementary school students. The loaded backpacks are being distributed at back-to-school events sponsored by Chicago alderman whose districts include low-income Latino neighborhoods.
Events included a Back-to-School Health Fair at the Congress Theater on August 20, and will include a Back-to-School Festival in Mozart Park on August 27 and back-to-school immunizations, eye and dental exams in partnership with St. Anthony's Hospital on September 11. Additional backpacks will be provided to other events.
Separately, a new 7-Eleven in Lodi , N.J., recently donated a check for $711 to the Lodi Boys & Girls Club, reported NorthJersey.com. Club director Mike Nardino was joined by individuals from the club and borough officials to accept the check from 7-Eleven representatives.
