RaceTrac Expanding Into Its First New Market in 15 Years

Growing community is a ‘natural fit’ for regional retailer

ATLANTA -- RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. plans to open 30 or more convenience stores in the Nashville area in the next five years, marking the chain’s first expansion into a new market in more than 15 years, the retailer said.

The chain plans to build 30 Nashville-area locations by 2023. Construction of the first RaceTrac c-store there is on track for completion by early 2020, the company said, with additional stores in the permitting phase of development in the Nashville metropolitan area.

Nashville has seen considerable growth in recent years, and for the third straight year it has been listed as a top-10 real-estate market by PwC/Urban Land Institute’s Emerging Trends in Real Estate report.

RaceTrac will add more than 600 local job opportunities in the Nashville market, the company said.

The news follows an announcement in January that RaceTrac plans to open nearly 50 more c-stores in Florida over the next two years.

Based in Atlanta, RaceTrac has been serving customers since 1934 and now operates more than 450 convenience stores in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas.
