Next TA Express Site to Open in August

TravelCenters of America signs new franchise agreement for Texas location

WESTLAKE, Ohio TravelCenters of America LLC , operator of the TA, Petro Stopping Centers and TA Express brands, has signed a franchise agreement with Shawn Ali, owner of the Oasis Mart in Baytown, Texas, to convert the business to a TA Express.

TravelCenters of America opened the first four TA Express locations as company-owned travel centers under the smaller-format brand in 2018. The new-concept stores are in Alexander, N.D.; Walsenburg, Colo.; Brush, Colo.; and Grand Junction, Colo. It opened another TA Express in April at the former Coffee Cup Fuel Stop in Steele, N.D., the first branded franchise under that newly launched flag.

The TA Express in Baytown will sit on an 11-acre property and have all of the full-service amenities that professional drivers and highway travelers require, including diesel fuel, diesel exhaust fluid, gasoline, travel store, showers and multiple dining options.

“We are excited to announce new growth and welcome Shawn to the TA network,” said Barry Richards, president and chief operating officer of TravelCenters of America. “The addition of this location gives the professional driver and motoring public another trusted stop along this heavily traveled area of Texas.”

“Joining the TA network is going to be great for our growth strategy as well as the TravelCenters customer base,” said Ali. “Being a part of the … TravelCenters brand will help us better serve our customers through fleet fueling and service agreements while offering the best amenities on the highway.”

TravelCenters of America, Westlake, Ohio, conducts business in 43 states and Canada. At more than 260 locations, it is No. 29 in CSP’s2019 Top 202 ranking of convenience-store chains by number of retail outlets.
