From Aug. 29 to Oct. 10, 2009, independent convenience store owners have the opportunity to purchase Snickers in a 48-count box at a discounted price. If sold at the suggested retail price, this allows operators to turn a higher profit during these tough economic times, said Sam's Club.
According to the National Association of Convenience [image-nocss] Stores (NACS), U.S. c-stores sell approximately 15% of all candy sold at the retail leveland an even greater percentage of chocolate. Chocolate bars leads all candy sales in convenience stores and is one of the most recession-resistant categories, proving that although consumers are cutting back on some purchases, they still want to treat themselves with small indulgences or rewards, such as chocolate, Sam's Club said.
Sam's Club is a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Bentonville, Ark.
