Cumberland Farms announces scholarships

CANTON, Mass. -- Cumberland Farms has announced its Believe & Achieve Scholarship program, providing individual $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors in its service area.

As part of the company's corporate giving initiative, the Believe & Achieve Scholarship program will be open to students who will enter college in fall 2007 and live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms outlet in the Northeast and Florida. The scholarship program is also open to children of Cumberland Farms employees. While the initiative takes academic [image-nocss] performance into account, the award also considers the student's financial need.

There are too many bright college freshmen who need extra help to pay for books or to defray tuition, said Cumberland Farms CEO, Lily Bentas. That is why we are so excited to implement the Believe and Achieve Scholarship program, where we can lend a hand to the young people in our communities who are dedicated to improving their future by obtaining a college education.

Canton, Mass.-based Cumberland Farms' network of retail stores, gas stations and a support system including petroleum, dairy and grocery distribution operations spans 11 states across the Northeast and Florida.
