CBC Restructures

New divisions better reflect types of clients

WESTMONT, Ill. -- Because it now serves more diverse types of independent operators, CBC, founded 10 years ago as Consolidated Buying Co. LLC mainly to serve convenience stores in the petroleum industry, said that it has restructured into three divisions: Automotive, Retail and Transportation.

The Automotive Division serves more than 5,000 members and is comprised of automotive dealerships, auto auctions and auto repair facilities. The Retail Division currently serves more than 7,500 c-store and car wash operators. The Transportation Division serves [image-nocss] a member network of more than 300 independently-owned fuel haulers and distributors who service thousands independent member locations. This division has recently expanded to also serve the agriculture industry, grocery wholesalers and foodservice distributors.

We've evolved substantially from our early heritage as a buying group, said Jon Lanphier, president and CEO of Westmont, Ill.-based CBC. Today, we're a dynamic, multi-faceted organization that provides our nearly 14,000 members with a broad range of products, services, training, payment systems and merchandising programs that enhance their power to compete. Equally important, we provide our suppliers with efficient access to a fragmented marketplace.

He added, As our business has grown, so have our capabilities. Being able to effectively communicate these capabilities to our clients, customers and supplier partners is paramount to our future success.

Accordingly, CBC has adopted a new corporate identity system that provides a consistent message and image that reflects its commitment, strength and expertise. This new identity will allow CBC to continue business expansion while aligning it more closely with its partners, Lanphier said.
