Convenience-store retailer EG America has appointed Reid Evans to head of data and artificial intelligence (AI), Evans said in a LinkedIn post.

Evans said that this was the right next step because of “a leadership team that is aligned and ambitious about what comes next, a clear, execution-focused vision that puts data and AI as a core pillar of transformation and a mandate to build—not just dashboards or models, but a function that drives real decisions.”

Evans described his responsibilities as defining and implementing a data and AI strategy in alignment with Westborough, Massachusetts-based EG America’s business goals and digital transformation.

He also said he will promote data as a corporate asset, identify AI, automation and analytics use cases.

  • EG America is No. 6 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.

Evans was most recently owner of Reid Evans Consulting for two years. Prior to that, he was principal consultant of Knoxville, Tennessee-based software company ResultStack for six and a half years.

Evans said he has worked with EG America as an external consultant for several years.

Parent company EG Group also recently appointed Mark Segal as CFO and Steve DeSutter as an independent non-executive director of the board.

Founded in 2001 by the Issa family, Blackburn, United Kingdom-based EG Group is a gasoline forecourt and retail convenience operator with more than 6,200 sites across the United Kingdom and Ireland, Europe, the United States and Australia. Its U.S. arm, EG America LLC, operates c-store brands including Cumberland Farms, Fastrac, Kwik Shop, Quik Stop, Sprint, Tom Thumb and Turkey Hill.
