Huck's, Howdy's Help

And Rutter's highlights charitable efforts

CARMI, Ill. -- All Huck's Convenience Stores annually take part in a holiday program to raise money for local children who might otherwise not be able to enjoy the Christmas season, said The Southeast Missourian.

This year, Huck's associates have raised money by asking customers for a $1 donation, holding bake sales, getting corporate sponsors and other projects. The company has raised more than $75,000 this year for the Karing for Kids program, said the report. Huck's associates will sponsor as many children as possible with a $150 shopping trip per [image-nocss] child.

Huck's is operated by Martin & Bayley Inc., Carmi, Ill. Stores are located in Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee.

Separately, El Paso, Texas-based Howdys Food Marts and the USO have announced a new fundraising partnership. From now to Jan. 6, 2008, participating Howdys Food Marts in El Paso, and Las Cruces/Deming, N.M., will offer customers an opportunity to demonstrate their support for Americas troops by making a one dollar donation to the USO and signing a specially designed flag to be hung in the store. All proceeds raised will support the El Paso USO Center.

Owned and operated by Transmountain Oil Co. LC, Howdys Food Marts has 14 retail convenience store locations.
