Jiffy Mart Raises $3,000 for Carroll Hospital Center

County-wide campaign pitted stores against each other
WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Jiffy Mart, a division of S.H. Tevis & Son, donated $3,000 to Carroll Hospital Center on November 11 as part of the Pump Up the Health in Carroll County campaign in Westminster, Md.

Members of the Jiffy Mart management team presented the check to John M. Sernulka, FACHE, president and CEO, and Ellen Finnerty Myers, CFRE, chief development officer and vice president of community affairs, at their headquarters in Westminster.

The monies were accumulated during the Pump up the Health in Carroll County campaign held in October where community residents [image-nocss] donated $1 or more to the hospital at any Jiffy Mart gas stations when pumping gasoline or making a purchase. Residents then had their names displayed on a list in the store to recognize their contribution.
Jiffy Mart employees decided to start the campaign as one of their philanthropic efforts for the community and chose Carroll Hospital Center as the local organization to donate their proceeds because of its importance to Carroll County.

"Carroll Hospital Center is our local hospital and an integral part of our community," said Tom Moser, Jiffy Mart general manager. "We like to give back to our communities whenever we can, so the hospital just seemed like the obvious place to donate."

During the campaign, Jiffy Mart employees held a friendly competition with those at other Jiffy Mart locations to increase support for the cause. Due to the generosity of Jiffy Mart customers and hardworking associates, the campaign became so successful that many locations had trouble finding room on their donor lists for all of the contributors' names.

"This campaign was a huge success and demonstrates how residents are willing to give back when it's for a good cause," said Dwayne Cover, Jiffy Mart business manager.
