A new rewards program and a robust ecommerce experience are features of Kum & Go’s new mobile app and &Rewards program, which launched Aug. 1 after an initial announcement earlier this summer.

The Des Moines, Iowa-based convenience-store chain’s &Rewards program has a new feel and lets customers choose how they want to redeem points. Members can bank points and convert them into &Rewards Cash, available for use with nearly any in-store or in-app purchase, or a per-gallon fuel discount. Redeeming points for cash or fuel discounts was the most requested addition to &Rewards, Kum & Go said.

The app also features a new personalized interface customized to display unique information relevant to each customer, including shopping recommendations based on past activity and the ability to designate a favorite Kum & Go convenience store location. Mobile fuel pay now includes being able to prepay for gas at set amounts.

Kum & Go launched the new mobile app and rewards program with support from composable commerce specialist Orium. The upgraded app leverages Orium's React Native Accelerator.

“The new Kum & Go mobile app experience is a perfect example of how commerce, content, POS, loyalty and even fuel pumps can connect together to create incredible, truly omnichannel, customer-first experiences,” said Ben Woll, Toronto-based Orium's vice president of client services.

“I am incredibly proud of our team for the largest product launch since we debuted the Kum & Go app in 2016,” said Tanner Krause, Kum & Go CEO. “We listened to our customers’ feedback and have developed a digital customer experience that delivers what they look for in an app and rewards program. The new Kum & Go app and &Rewards platform delivers a best-in-class experience for our most loyal customers.”

Existing mobile app users can download the new app by visiting the app store on their device and updating to the latest version. As an added thank you to &Rewards members who signed up before Aug. 1, Kum & Go will double their existing points as they enter the new program.

Kum & Go earlier this summer expanded its partnership with beverage company BLK & Bold to bring its sustainably sourced, specialty grade coffee to more than 300 Kum & Go locations across 13 states.

Established in Hampton, Iowa in 1959, Kum & Go is a fourth-generation, family-owned c-store chain employing more than 5,000 and operating more than 400 stores across 13 states. The company agreed in April to be acquired by Maverik. Both chains have about 400 locations.
