SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Celebrating its 20th year of giving back to the community, Stewart's Holiday Match Program is set to return starting Thanksgiving Day. In 2005, customers in all Stewart's Shops donated more than $450,000 from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day.
Stewart's matched that amount, sending a total of more than $900,000 out to 933 charities in a 30-county area.
The program has become a holiday tradition in Stewart's Shops since 1986. More than $8.7 million has been raised since its inception two decades ago, [image-nocss] benefiting thousands of local children's charities. We are so proud that Holiday Match has now been around for 20 years. Everyone at Stewart's gets excited about it, our customers get excited about it and our media partners get excited about helping out this worthwhile cause, said Susan Dake, Stewart's Foundation president.
The Stewart's Holiday Match program matches individual customer donations made in all 321 Stewart's Shops from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Day. With no administrative fees deducted, 100% of the funds are donated to local children's charities.
The purpose of Holiday Match is to encourage individual giving and broaden the base of support for local charities. Stewart's Holiday Match is a 501c3 foundation, and all donations are tax-deductible. Stewart's will gladly accept funds from groups or businesses, but matches individual donations only.
This really is a two part program, added Dake. Our goals are to bring donations in, as well as to get applications out to children's groups in need of funds.
