Utility, TIO Network Sign Cash Bill Pay Deal at AZ Circle Ks

Consumers can make real-time bill payments through Zaplink kiosks

PHOENIX -- Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) and Info Touch Technologies Corp., owner of the TIO Network, have agreed to enable APS customers to pay their utility bills in cash, through self-serve automated ZapLink kiosks at more than150 Circle K locations in the Phoenix area 24 hours a day. The kiosks are expected to be taking payments by early 2006.

Cash-preferred APS clientele will soon be able to conveniently and securely view their account balance or make a payment on their APS account. Payments are made by entering the cash directly into the Zaplink [image-nocss] machine's cash acceptor. Once the cash is accepted, the Zaplink kiosk then uses an Internet link to update the customer account in real-time.

APS, Arizona's largest and oldest electricity utility, serves more than 1 million customers in 11 of the state's 15 counties.

Phoenix-based Circle K Stores Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., Laval, Quebec.

Burnaby, B.C.-based Info Touch Technologies, a strategic investment of Hewlett Packard, is building the TIO Network, a national multi-retailer network of financial services kiosks for the nonbanked consumer marketplace in North America. Info Touch's Premiere (powered by Surfnet) is the software platform it uses for the delivery of automated services such as bill payment, money transfer, digital merchandising, PIN dispensing for prepaid products and services, maps and directions, check cashing and electronic coupons.
