Valero to Implement TelaPoint's Fuel Management System

Smart Replenishment helps manage supply chain

SAN ANTONIO -- Valero Energy Corp. is implementing TelaPoint Inc.'s TelaFuel Internet software solution to streamline and manage its fuel forecasting, replenishment and transportation processes.

The oil company is using TelaFuel, a browser-based application suite, to better serve its retail customers and improve the management of its fuel replenishment and logistics operation serving its more than 1,000 Valero company-operated stores throughout the United States.

The implementation of the TelaPoint Smart Replenishment solution [image-nocss] is key to our ability to better manage our supply chain requirements, said Jon Urbanik, director of retail fuel pricing and transportation at San Antonio-based Valero. We work closely with our outside transportation partners to ensure that we have the right product at the right place at the right time. With the implementation of TelaPoint's Smart Replenishment tool, we give our carriers real-time access to the information they need to better serve our needs. The system is being used by all carriers and all stores across the Valero network of company-operated stores.

TelaFuel is an Internet supply chain software solution that includes Smart Replenishment, Smart Buying and Smart Invoicing. The TelaFuel solution helps companies realize fewer communication errors with transportation partners, lower fuel inventory and replenishment costs, make better fuel purchasing and pricing decisions, and streamline fuel invoice reconciliation.

All TelaPoint customers have secure access through browser-based software applications allowing for communication with their authorized trading partners.

Valero owns and operates 18 refineries throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 3.3 million barrels per day. And it operates more than 5,000 retail and branded wholesale outlets in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean under brand names including Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Shamrock, Ultramar, and Beacon.

Louisville, Ky.-based TelaPoint provides business-to-business applications focused exclusively on the convenience store and petroleum industry. The TelaPoint application suite enables c-stores and fuel outlets to improve the efficiency of their fuel replenishment, buying and administrative operations.
