Even during a challenging year with regard to the supply chain, Louisville, Kentucky-based Thorntons was able to maintain its robust coffee program by closely working with suppliers and distributors to keep guests caffeinated. The offer consists of the new standard in coffee equipment, bean-to-cup, with a broad range of flavors and roast levels, while batch-brewed coffee continues to play its part for customers who prefer a more traditional coffee flavor.
To complement the fresh coffee offer, Thorntons has a wide variety of sweeteners and creamers for guests to make their cup. This particular portion of the business was hardest hit by supply-chain issues, but Thorntons worked hard to ensure guests had these offerings.
In addition to the brand’s brewed offering, flavored cappuccinos—including popular seasonal flavors to satisfy holiday cravings—are a hit with customers. Pumpkin Spice made its return to the lineup while York Peppermint Hot Chocolate was introduced in 2022.
For loyal guests, Thorntons increased focus on coffee offers through its Refreshing Rewards Program. With the return of #FreeCoffeeThursdays and other monthly promotions, Thorntons gave away more than 350,000 cups of coffee.
