Casey’s Teams Up With Buffalo Trace Distillery

Retailer offering Single-Barrel Select Bourbon in 375ml bottles at 73 convenience stores in central Illinois

As it works to innovate its beer, wine and spirits offerings, and with whiskey holding a top spot in the spirits category, Casey’s General Stores Inc. has teamed up for the third year with Buffalo Trace Bourbon to offer a select number of special-release bottles.

Customers can find a limited offering of Buffalo Trace Single-Barrel Select Bourbon in 375ml bottles available at 73 of its convenience stores in central Illinois.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s operates more than 2,600 c-stores in 17 greater Midwestern states and Texas. It is the third-largest convenience-store retailer, the fourth-largest holder of liquor licenses and the fifth-largest pizza chain in the United States.

The retailer recently put a face to its pizza and beer offerings. The retailer said it has selected Joe Cruz from Lincoln, Nebraska, as its first “Chief Pizza and Beer Officer.” It selected Cruz from out of more than 500 candidates.

Buffalo Trace Bourbon uses the Frankfort, Kentucky, distillery’s mash No. 1 recipe, also used in Eagle Rare and George T. Stagg Bourbons. Buffalo Trace Bourbon won a Gold Medal at the 2020 World Whiskies Awards.

“Casey’s wants to offer our guests products they can’t find anywhere else—like this unique, single-barrel bourbon from Buffalo Trace,” said Fareed Siddiqui, director of packaged beverages for Casey’s. “The single-barrel select bourbon will be a special find in these Illinois stores, and we’re excited to see what our guests think of this Buffalo Trace bourbon,” said Fareed Siddiqui, director of packaged beverages for Casey’s.
