And It Shall Be Called ''Quick Freeze'

Quick Chek names frozen beverage naming contest winner; debuts Costa Rican Tarrazu
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek, the family-operated chain of more than 120 fresh food convenience store locations throughout New Jersey and southern New York, has announced that Francis LaMonica of Tinton Falls, N.J., is the winner of the company's "Name itClaim it" frozen beverage naming contest.

During the naming contest held in August and September of 2009, LaMonica creatively suggested "Quick Freeze" as the new name of the company's frozen drinks, a name that not only nods to the name of the chain, but succinctly describes the instantaneous refreshing feeling [image-nocss] Quick Chek's frozen drinks bring.

The grand prize winner, whose name was randomly chosen from a pool of contest participants entering Quick Freeze as their name of choice, was subsequently awarded with a Nintendo Wii along with free Quick Chek Quick Freeze drinks for a one-year period.

Beginning today, April 19, and going through the summer season, Quick Chek will celebrate the launch of Quick Freeze, hosting daily Happy Hour events as it drops the price of all fountain and Quick Freeze drinks by half from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Six Name it...Claim it contest runners up will also receive free Quick Chek Quick Freeze drinks for six months.

Quick Chek Name it...Claim it contest entries were accepted both in store and online from August 3 through September 13.

In other company news, following the 2010 introductions of Sumatra Mandheling and Nicaraguan Matagalpa coffees, Quick Chek, continues its single-origin coffee world tour April 19 with the debut of Costa Rican Tarrazu.

A light bodied coffee known for its tangy flavor, enticing aroma and clean finish, Costa Rican Tarrazu will be available at all Quick Chek locations through June 13.

"Coffee from Costa Rica has certainly set the standard for wet-processed coffees from both Central and South America," said Mandy Steindl-Kwiecien, category manager for Quick Chek. "Our new Costa Rican Tarrazu, a classic blend which begins with intensely roasted beans from the Pacific side of Isthmus, will quickly become a favorite among our coffee customers."

Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based Quick Chek is a market leader in foodservice with its fresh coffee and fresh food programs. Its locations include 12 pharmacy stores and 25 locations with fuel.
