SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Alkaline Water Co. is expanding its footprint in convenience stores.
The company’s flagship product, bottled alkaline water Alkaline88, will be available in all 258 Jacksons Food Stores and in all 108 Plaid Pantry stores. Jacksons and Plaid Pantry will start carrying Alkaline88’s 3-liter and 1-liter bottles, respectively.
“This is a meaningful win for us, given the potential opportunity, especially for our line of single-serve products, including our eco-friendly aluminum bottles and A88 flavor-infused water,” said Richard Wright, president and CEO of Alkaline Water. “With a growing geographic footprint and a strong cash margin profile for our single-serve offerings, we expect the c-store channel to be a strong contributor toward our growth and our goal of being cash-flow positive by fiscal 2021.”
The Alkaline Water Co. announced earlier this year that it was partnering with Westlake, Texas-based distributor Core-Mark and adding a new team member to expand its reach in c-stores. The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company became part of Core-Mark’s Smart Stock program, which added the products to an additional 11,000 U.S. c-stores.
Jacksons Food Stores, Meridian, Idaho, has a mix of c-stores, travel centers and car washes and is a jobber for more than 800 dealer sites in nine Western states. Jacksons is No. 30 on the Top 40 update to CSP’s 2019 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by number of retail outlets. CSP will release the complete 2020 list in June.
Plaid Pantries Inc., Beaverton, Ore., operates a regional chain of 24-hour Plaid Pantry c-stores in the Pacific Northwest, mostly in the metro area around Portland. It is No. 64 on CSP's 2019 Top 202 ranking.
