Three beverage-makers strike distribution deals
DAVIE, Fla. -- Three functional beveragesVitamin Power Shot, Skinny Water and DNA Energy Drinkexpanded their distribution this month.

Power Trip Beverages (PTB), a diversified beverage company specialized in bringing vitamin-enhanced functional energy drinks to distributors, retailers and consumers, has joined with Mountain View Marketing Inc. (MVM), to distribute PTB Vitamin Power Shot to thousands of retailers across the country. MVM is the convenience-store industry leader in recognizable branded merchandise with a product presence from coast to coast.

The PTB/[image-nocss] MVM agreement means that the Vitamin Power Shot will have exposure to large convenience-store chains throughout the country and into Canada. The Vitamin Power Shot was first launched in July 2008.

Power Trip is the market leader of the future powered by an energy drink formula, packaging, and marketing to catapult them to category leader status and we saw an opportunity to make a deal that made sense for both of us, said Jerry Rose, president of Mountain View Marketing.

We're enormously excited about the immediate growth in our business and the access to bigger relationships in the convenience sector that Mountain View Marketing can bring to us, said Doug Stuart, president of Power Trip Beverages, Davie, Fla. Expanding distribution is absolutely critical and being able to partner with a large and very respected organization like Mountain View Marketing is a positive sign for our brand.

Meanwhile, Skinny Nutritional Corp., Bala Cynwyd, Pa., has entered into a distribution agreement with Giant Food Stores, one of the leading supermarket operations in the eastern United States.

"We are thrilled Giant Food Stores has agreed to sell our zero-calorie Skinny Water on its shelves," said Don McDonald, CEO and president of Skinny Nutritional Corp. Supermarkets are a key part of our distribution strategy, and Giant helps us fill out our footprint on the East Coast."

Finally, DNA Beverage Corp., makers of DNA Energy Drink, announced that its distribution subsidiary Grass Roots Beverage (GRB) has expanded its local South Florida coverage to a full statewide operation. What began as a test 12 months ago and a limited regional operation six months after that has grown into a full-blown statewide operation.

"Expanding our distribution capabilities are a necessity if we were to maintain our current growth objectives," said Darren Marks, the Boca Raton, Fla.-based company's president. "If anything, distribution opportunities for new beverage offerings like ours have diminished over the last six months.

Category leaders Monster, Rock Star and Red Bull are either self-distributing or controlled by Coke and Pepsi, leaving the rest of the category searching for alternatives and making our services so much more valuable," added Marks.

According to the latest industry reports, convenience stores are responsible for 82% of all energy-drink sales, and Florida is ranked No. 4 in the nation with over 9,000 such locations.
