No Colonel for This Chicken Fried in Kentucky

Circle K in Shelbyville, 62 Stop N Shop in Leitchfield opens Chester's locations

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. -- On January 2, Circle K held a grand opening event to celebrate its latest Chester's chicken location in Shelbyville, Ky. Chester's has 17 locations with Circle K throughout the Midwest.

Members of the community and surrounding areas stopped by and join in on the festivities, including a special guest appearance by Chester the Chicken.

This location will serve Chester's on the Fly signature menu items--chicken tenders, chicken biscuits, potato wedges and dipping sauce. The store is running a special promotion--customers receive a free Polar Pop with the purchase of two Tenders and two Potato Wedges.

"Our partnership with Circle K is ideal for both parties," said James Venable, vice president of store operations with Chester's International. "Everyone sells candy bars, gas and snacks, but not everyone sells fresh fried chicken."

As of Oct. 14, 2012, Circle K's parent company, Laval, Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., has a network that consists of 6,172 convenience stores throughout North America, including 4,590 stores with fuel dispensing. Its North American network consists of 13 business units, including nine in the United States covering 40 states and the District of Columbia (primarily under the Circle K flag) and four in Canada covering all 10 provinces (primarily under the Couche-Tard and Mac's flags).

Separately, 62 Stop N Shop in Leitchfield, Ky. has opened a Chester's restaurant offering its full menu.

"We are excited to have Chester's as part of our food offering. Customers have anxiously awaited the opening since the first sign went up. The response has been tremendous and we definitely anticipate this being a great addition for our existing customers, as well as the new friends we look to make. Words can't express how excited we are to partner with a great company like Chester's," said Doug Edwards, president of 62 Shop N Shop.

"Chester's is excited to bring a fresh new fried chicken foodservice program to the Leitchfield area. We look forward to a long lasting partnership with 62 Stop N Shop," stated Kathy Jackson, franchise business consultant of Chester's International.

Birmingham, Ala.-based Chester's is a leader of quick-serve restaurant (QSR) concepts with more than 1,900 Chester Fried licensed and Chester's franchised locations. Along with its menu, Chester's offers flexible size and store layout options, training and support. Chester's uses only fresh chicken that is specially marinated and double-breaded using a proprietary family recipe and offers bone-in, tenders and potato wedges as well as sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast and sides.

Chester's Chicken on the Fly offers customers a convenient meal solution requiring minimal investment and little to no labor.
