The Pantry to Offer Western Union goCASH Service

Kangaroo Express stores to provide U.S. in-lane money transfer
CARY, N.C. -- The Pantry Inc. and The Western Union Co., a leader in global payments, have forged an agreement to offer the Western Union goCASH service, an in-lane money-transfer service from Western Union. The goCASH service will be available this fall at Kangaroo Express stores.

The Western Union goCASH service will enable consumers to pay for a domestic or global money transfer while shopping at more than 1,650 Kangaroo Express stores across 13 states. The Pantry agreement builds upon Western Union's go-to-market strategy and complements Western Union's consumer experience.[image-nocss]

"Our services continue to gain momentum with consumers. Western Union sees the goCASH service as an opportunity to strengthen its relationship and value proposition with consumers seeking convenient services, and mass market retailers preferring to efficiently manage services at the check-out counter," said Victoria Lopez-Negrete, senior vice president and general manager for North America at Western Union.

With the goCASH service, consumers will have the option to select any of three principal amounts ranging from $50, $100 and $200, and the goCASH package can be purchased for both domestic and international money transfers. Once purchased, the sender will need to complete the transaction online or over the phone through a Western Union customer service representative and provide the money-transfer information to the receiver.

"Kangaroo Express stores offer a broad selection of merchandise, as well as gasoline and other ancillary services designed to appeal to the convenience needs of its guests. Adding the Western Union goCASH money transfer service, available at the counter, provides another time-saving option for our store guests," said John Fisher, senior vice president of marketing for The Pantry.

Western Union, together with its Vigo, Orlandi Valuta, Pago Facil and Western Union Business Solutions branded payment services, provides consumers and businesses with fast, reliable and convenient ways to send and receive money around the world, to send payments and to purchase money orders.

Headquartered in Cary, N.C., The Pantry is the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States and one of the largest independently operated convenience store chains in the country. Its stores offer a broad selection of hot and cold beverages, snacks, fresh foods and gasoline as part of a wide assortment of merchandise and services that support consumer on-the-go lifestyles.
