The 67-foot Engelmann spruce tree is from the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.
The tree caravan is expected to make a refueling stop between 1 and 2 p.m. at the Rutter's New Cumberland store
"Rutter's is honored to play its part in helping to usher in the holiday season by hosting this beautiful tree," said Scott Hartman, president and CEO of Rutter's Farm Stores.
The [image-nocss] Bridger-Teton National Forest, at the request of Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), is leading the state of Wyoming in the delivery of the Capitol Christmas Tree for 2010.
The Capitol Christmas Tree will grace the west front lawn of the U.S. Capitol in December 2010.
The tree will be presented today to the U.S. Congress. The first time Wyoming has ever given the annual Christmas tree to the U.S. Capitol, this project is delivering not only a tree taller than a seven-story building, but nearly 10,000 handmade ornaments and 80 companion trees that will be placed in offices throughout the Capitol Complex. The tree will be lowered into five-foot deep hole, strung with lights and decorated with thousands of handcrafted ornaments made by Wyoming residents. In December, the Speaker of the House will light the tree. Through the holiday season, the tree will be lit at dusk.
The theme of Wyoming's tree is "Wyoming: Forever West."
The National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) is the lead sponsor of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. As such, NACS is providing diesel fuel and gasoline for the two semis and eight to 10 support vehicles in the tree caravan.
