TEMPE, Ariz. -- During the 22nd annual St. Jude Halloween Promotion, Western Refining, through its Giant and Howdy Convenience Stores, raised more than $337,000 to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other deadly childhood diseases.

More than 200 Giant and Howdy's convenience stores in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona came together in the month-long promotion that asked patrons at checkout to donate $1 to St. Jude. In exchange, costumers were memorialized with personalized Halloween-themed pinups displayed in the retail locations.

New Mexico stores raised $202,357, Arizona raised $83,349, Texas raised $30,231 and Colorado raised $20,663 for the hospital.

"The kindness of the consumers and dollars add up and support the hospital's groundbreaking research and lifesaving care," said Richard Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. "Our corporate partners were instrumental in helping us raise funds and we can't thank them enough."

As a result of the support from corporate partners and their customers over the past 21 years, the annual Halloween promotion has continued to be a success and has raised more than $4 million to help fund the lifesaving research and treatment being done at the hospital.

"Our customers and employees showed a tremendous amount of generosity," said Rocky Sprouse, vice president of Western Refining Retail. "Each year we look forward to participating in the promotion and doing our part to bring relief to children and their families."
