Industry innovator previously was with 7-Eleven, CPG companies

EL DORADO, Ark. -- Convenience-store and gasoline retailer Murphy USA Inc. has announced that Rob Chumley will join the company in the recently established role of senior vice president of marketing.

Chumley will oversee the merchandising and marketing functions at Murphy USA. In this role, he will define strategies and drive key initiatives to support retail operations and merchandising with a focus on loyalty, digital marketing and promotional programs.

With more than 25 years of experience at brands including 7-Eleven, Kellogg’s, Coca-Cola, Gillette and Procter & Gamble, Chumley brings a strong and diverse retail and consumer packaged goods (CPG) background to the business.

At 7-Eleven Inc., then based in Dallas, he served as senior director of merchandising for center store and finally vice president of merchandising, senior vice president innovation and president of 7 Ventures. There he led a retail innovation team that developed new-store prototypes, an omnichannel strategy and a corporate venture-capital entity.

"Rob’s proven track record for exceeding sales and profit objectives, building organizational capabilities and driving change make him an important addition to our leadership team. This new role aligns well with our broader strategy and the work of Rob and his team will be a strong component of our independent growth plan,” said Andrew Clyde, president and CEO, Murphy USA Inc.

El Dorado, Ark.-based Murphy USA is a leading retailer of gasoline and convenience merchandise with more than 1,300 c-stores located in 24 states, primarily in the Southwest, Southeast and Midwest. Most of Murphy USA's stations are located near Walmart stores. The company also markets fuels and other products at standalone stores under the Murphy Express brand.
