It all started with a Jan. 23 Tweet from singer-songwriter Noah Kahan: “Fun fact about me is I have a detailed and exhaustive ranking of our nations gas stations and their respective snacks.”

Following the Tweet was a top 10 ranking of his favorite convenience stores from Circle K to Wawa to the Vermont-native's hometown Mobil station. La Crosse, Wis.-based Kwik Trip didn’t make the cut.

“Noah we need to talk,” Kwik Trip replied to the ranking on Twitter.

“Invite me to your store and show me why you deserve a better spot,” Kahan, who is on his Stick Season Tour, replied.

Weeks later, Kahan and his band visited a Kwik Trip before a Feb. 11 show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. CBS 58 aired a segment on Kahan's visit where, clipboard in hand, he gave the chain a tongue-and-cheek review. Snacks, beer and hot food all received 10/10, Kahan said.

“Hot food, unbelievable. I would eat all of that. Have the worst acid reflux ever, which means it’s a 10,” he said.

In the end, Kwik Trip beat out nearly all other c-stores on Kahan’s list—coming only second to his hometown store.

“It did live up to the hype,” Kahan said. “Unbelievable establishment. And I have to say you guys sneak into the top five easily. So, we’ll give Kwik Trip No. 2 on my list. Congratulations, Kwik Trip, you have beat out Buc-ee’s and Casey’s.
