IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven has introduced a personal breakfast pizza at participating locations nationwide.

The portable, hot and ready-to-eat pizza is 5 inches wide and is available for a suggested retail price of $2. It has a flaky biscuit crust topped with creamy white gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage crumbles, bacon, ham and a blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese. The pizza is available in 7-Eleven’s hot foods case at the front counter during the morning hours and can be prepared on request at other times, the company said.

"7-Eleven stores' busiest time of day is right in the heart of traditional breakfast hours, and people are hungry," said Robin Murphy, fresh foods product director for 7-Eleven. "We took our busiest time of day and [one of] our customers' favorite hot foods—pizza—to create what we think will become a breakfast favorite that is delicious and easy to eat on the go."

All-day breakfast options are quickly growing on menus as consumers’ definitions of the dayparts shift. Fifty-two percent of consumers describe breakfast as any food eaten as their first meal in the morning—a 4% decrease compared to 2017, according to the 2019 Breakfast Consumer Trend Report by CSP’s sister research firm, Technomic. Beyond that, more than one-third of consumers define breakfast by the types of food eaten, and 43% of consumers enjoy eating breakfast foods at nontraditional times of the day.

More than 90% of consumers said they love or like pizza, and breakfast pizzas are up 54% during the past four years, according to 7-Eleven.

Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven Inc. operates, franchises or licenses more than 66,000 stores in 17 countries, including about 9,100 in the United States. The chain ranked No. 1 on CSP’s 2019 Top 202 ranking of c-store chains by total number of company-owned retail units.
