IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven has introduced the Spicy Watermelon-Lime Slurpee Lite, flavored with Glaceau Vitaminwater Fire. The convenience-store retailer chose spicy watermelon as the newest Slurpee Lite flavor as a way of targeting consumers seeking bolder taste profiles, it said.

This debut comes at the heels of 7-Eleven’s Blueberry Lavender Slurpee Litewhich launched in May 2019. The periwinkle blue-colored slush drink was made with Glaceau Vitaminwater Chill, which is one of the top-selling noncarbonated flavored waters at 7-Eleven, the company said. Each purchased Slurpee counts toward the ongoing 7Rewards buy six, get the seventh cup free loyalty offer.

"After the big splash that Vitaminwater Chill Slurpee Lite drink made with Slurpee lovers, we expect this spicy watermelon-lime Vitaminwater Fire will be even bigger," said Jacob Barnes, proprietary beverages director for 7-Eleven. "Slurpee Lite has had some of our more unusual and sophisticated flavors, so thirsty customers can cut sugar without sacrificing flavor."

The orange and red-colored Spicy Watermelon-Lime Slurpee Lite is naturally flavored, contains no sugar and has 20 calories per 8-ounce serving. It is made with vitamins B3, B6 and B12, and it offers a touch of jalapeno and habanero that sparks a "slight tingling sensation,” the company said.

7-Eleven Inc. operates, franchises or licenses more than 66,000 stores in 17 countries, including about 9,100 in the United States. The chain is No. 1 on CSP’s 2019 Top 202 ranking of c-store chains by total number of company-owned retail units.
