Freshly made pizza with hand-stretched dough at Thorntons and Cuban sandwiches at TravelCenters of America (TA) are among the new foodservice offerings from bp.

The push comes as bp convenience stores worldwide are “expanding the range of food and drinks available to customers, giving them the opportunity to pick up freshly prepared meals and nibbles—from customizable sandwiches to new, private-brand snacks,” the company said on its website.

In addition, a limited-time offer Tex-Mex menu at TA includes tacos, burritos, rice bowls and nachos. A limited-time-offer international menu coming this summer includes chicken tikka masala and Cuban sandwiches.

  • BP America Inc./Thorntons is No. 7 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count. TravelCenters of America is No. 29.

“Keep an eye out for the Cleveland Clinic logo on menus showing that the dish is a healthy option,” said Chicago-based bp.

At ampm, Thorntons and TA, a new range of private-brand snacks include milk chocolate peanut butter peanuts and sour worms.

Another offering, which debuted last summer, is the Dirty Horchata, a mix of horchata and coffee in a frozen slush with a light cinnamon flavor. It sold five times the anticipated volume last summer, bp said. Meanwhile, Smash Burgers are driving a boost in sales of burgers after replacing the burger selection on the TravelCenters of America menu last year.

“The U.S. is such a big market, with big differences in how people shop based on their location,” said Greg Franks, senior vice president of mobility and convenience for the Americas. “Our aim is to give them the food they love and take advantage of our scale and worldwide expertise to expand our food offer even further.”

Tracey Clements, senior vice president of mobility and convenience for Europe, added,  “Customers tell us they want tasty and freshly prepared food options on the go. We are constantly listening to give them what they want, when and where they want it, as we develop exciting, new menu options at our stores. The new dishes I’ve tasted have had me coming back for more.”
