Sheetz Inc. is pumping up free gas prizes through a summer sweepstakes for loyalty members.
One Sheetz loyalty member will win “Free Gas 4 Life,” redeemable at the company’s more than 675 Mid-Atlantic locations, while six others will receive free gas for a year, Sheetz said in an announcement. The grand prize winner will choose from a one-time $250,000 cash award or Sheetz gift cards in an amount sufficient to purchase 25 gallons of fuel per week for 52 weeks each year for a maximum of 50 years. Six first-prize winners can choose from a $5,000 Sheetz gift card or a check for $3,500.
The Altoona, Pennsylvania-based convenience-store chain also will give a $500 Sheetz gift card to as many as 700 loyalty customers through the sweepstakes, which runs from May 3 to Aug. 31, the company said.
Loyalty members can see their total number of accumulated entries on the bottom of their receipts. The drawing is scheduled for early September.

Loyalty members can see their total number of accumulated entries on the bottom of their receipts. The drawing is scheduled for early September. Sheetz employees and residents of Florida and New York are excluded from participating.
To participate, consumers must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry and must be members of the My Sheetz Rewardz program. They must opt-in by e-mail, in-store or at a prompt at the fuel pump when they fill up. Loyalty members receive an entry when they opt-in to the contest and pick up an entry for each gallon of gas they purchase at Sheetz or by redeeming 100 Loyalty Pointz. Sheetz also offers electric-vehicle (EV) chargers and some locations.
No purchase is necessary to participate in the sweepstakes, the company said. To receive an entry without making a purchase, loyalty members can send in a 3-by-5 card with their loyalty number, other personal information and a brief written description explaining what winning the grand prize would mean to them.
