Direct Fuels Implements DTN's Terminal Automation System

Fills Dallas-Fort Worth's ethanol needs

EULESS, Texas -- Direct Fuels, an independent regional fuel distributor and specialty product refiner, has implemented DTN's Guardian3 (DTN G3) terminal automation system at its new ethanol storage terminal in Euless, Texas. Direct Fuels can now securely manage the facility, while supporting its customers' specific needs for ethanol inventory movement information.

In addition to secure card-in gate access, DTN G3 also delivers real-time inventory updates and robust reporting tools. Activity reports help Direct Fuels meet its customers' inventory management [image-nocss] and accounting needs; along with rapid data analysis and advanced filtering and reporting capabilities. Key reports can be automatically generated and emailed on a regular basis, so customers can easily keep track of inventory throughput in their requested DTN format.

"We're a long-time customer of DTN G3 and feel comfortable with the system. We are very excited about the future of alternative fuels in America and are pleased to be able to participate in delivering ethanol in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where there is a real need for safe storage of ethanol," said Scott Lambert, CFO of Euless-based Direct Fuels. "It makes sense to store it here in bulk quantity, rather than dispatching trucks to a rail yard. It's safer, faster and more cost-effective to send trucks here, and it's certainly easier for our customers to manage their inventory in our automated facility."

Using DTN G3, trucks can load faster, while dramatically improving terminal efficiency and reducing costs. DTN G3 is a modular set of solutions that can be easily adapted to present infrastructure; and it is backed by DTN experts who will ensure the system is properly installed and supported. Leveraging a Windows-based interface minimizes operator training, and the open system allows for easy compatibility with existing or future software systems. Communication support is available for a variety of rack devices.

Direct Fuels is one of north Texas' largest independent regional fuel distributors and specialty refiners, serving a major portion of the Dallas-Fort Worth area's supply of conventional and reformulated gasoline and diesel fuels. Direct Fuels owns a full-service fuel terminal and an ethanol storage facility in Euless, Texas. Direct Fuels has terminaling relationships with other terminal owners in the area; including locations in Southlake and Dallas. Direct Fuels is able to provide conventional and reformulated gasoline as well as diesel to any customer at market rates, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it said.

DTN is a leading provider of transaction services and systems to the downstream refined fuels supply chain, including more than 80% of third-party bill of lading transactions. Fully integrated data exchange between DTN G3, DTN TABS, DTN PetroEx, DTN Guardian Host and client backoffice systems maximizes customer control and speeds billing procedures. Fuel suppliers can maximize enterprise-wide operational benefits by harnessing the full scope of DTN supply chain solutions and 24/7 support.
