Jelly Belly Acquires Gimbal Brothers Jelly Beans

Acquisition will help expand product offerings and distribution, company says

FAIRFIELD, Calif. —Jelly Belly Candy Co. has agreed to acquire the Gimbal Brothers LLC jelly beans brand and other associated candy brands.

The transaction, which the companies expected to close at the end of 2019, includes Gimbal’s jelly beans, Scottie Dogs licorice and other chewy candy. The acquisition will help expand product offerings and distribution in the marketplace, according to Jelly Belly.

"We are grateful to the Gimbal Brothers team for their collaboration during the closing of this agreement," said Lisa Rowland Brasher, president and CEO of Jelly Belly. "We are both working hard to make this seamless for retailers, brokers and buyers."

The Rowland family has known the Gimbal family, former owners of the Gimbal’s brands, for three generations, the company said.

Fairfield, Calif.-based Jelly Belly started making Jelly Belly jelly beans in 1976 and today has more than 100 jelly bean flavors.

Gimbal’s Fine Candies was established in 1898 in San Francisco and was acquired in April 2017 by Highlander Partners.
