Casey’s Goes With Gilbarco for Forecourt EMV

New technology also supports mobile wallets and encryption

ANKENY, Iowa --Casey’s General Stores has selected Gilbarco Veeder-Root as its exclusive dispenser and payment terminal provider for forecourt Europay MasterCard and Visa (EMV) acceptance.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey’s will install Gilbarco Encore 700 S dispensers and FlexPay IV retrofit kits to enable EMV chip payments. Casey’s has 1,978 convenience stores and has begun its upgrades in advance of the 2020 deadline to add EMV-capable forecourt payment equipment.

“Casey’s has a long history working with Gilbarco, and their FlexPay IV solution offers a reliable, full-integrated and open platform for our existing base of Gilbarco dispensers,” said Terry Handley, president and CEO of Casey’s. “With growing consumer expectations around chip acceptance, we wanted to ensure that we upgrade our forecourts for EMV to help drive customer satisfaction.” As part of its upgrade program, Casey’s will deploy 10.4-inch color screens in pumps at all new locations.

Jointly developed with San Jose, Calif.-based Verifone, a world leader in payments and commerce solutions, FlexPay IV from Gilbarco is one of the first PCI PTS 4.x-certified fuel-dispenser payment terminal in the United States that supports EMV, NFC, mobile wallets, encryption and 2D barcode scanning, as well as future regulatory changes.

Mark Williams, vice president of marketing North America for Gilbarco Veeder-Root, said, “We continue to see industry-leading retailers like Casey’s move forward with their EMV upgrades as they understand that fraud shifts to the least secure payment acceptance points, and they want to ensure a secure payment experience for their customers. Additionally, many retailers like Casey’s are using their EMV upgrades as an opportunity to add on new technologies, like large color screens, to help better reach and connect with their customers.”

Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Greensboro, N.C., is a technology leader for retail and commercial fueling operations offering a broad range of integrated solutions from the forecourt to the convenience store and head office.
