Curve Throwing Sheetz Charity Event

For The Kidz Night to be held August 25
ALTOONA, Pa. -- The Altoona Curve and longtime partner Sheetz are teaming up for Sheetz Family Charities' "For the Kidz" Night at Blair County Ballpark. Sheetz Family Charities' For the Kidz benefits underprivileged children. Each year, Sheetz works together with The Salvation Army to identify deserving children from all over the region. Then, proceeds from fundraising efforts throughout the year go toward providing a memorable holiday season for those youth.

Despite being in the middle of summer, the Altoona Curve game on August 25 against the Trenton Thunder (AA-New York [image-nocss] Yankees) will focus heavily on the holiday season. All in-game contests will be For the Kidz and the Curve will be wearing brand new jerseys to show their support.

Fans will have an opportunity to own these unique jerseys. During a jersey-off-the-back silent auction, fans can bid on the uniform tops during the game. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the Sheetz Family Charities' For the Kidz effort.

"We are happy that For the Kidz has grown over the years to help thousands of children enjoy the holidays," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO of Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz Inc. "Together with the Curve, we are sure that it will only get stronger and this special fundraiser they've developed is a great way to get fans involved."

Along with the jersey auction, the Curve has added a brand new, post-game fireworks show to the night's festivities. As another fireworks night, fans can take advantage of the additional date for the Curve's Fireworks Four-Pack offer. The Fireworks Four-Pack offers fans buying tickets to any three fireworks nights to get tickets to a fourth such night for free.

In addition to the new promotions, fans can also take advantage of the Curve Family Values promotions already scheduled for August 25. The Sheetz Family Charities' For the Kidz Night falls on a Two-for-Tuesday at Blair County Ballpark, on which fans can enjoy two-for-one deals on tickets, hot dogs and popcorn.

Last year alone, Sheetz Family Charities' For the Kidz raised more than $350,000 and took more than 3,800 kids shopping during the holiday season, helping children from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Nearly 4,000 employees from every Sheetz in operation have participated in the shopping days. Since 1992, the charity has raised $3.9 million and helped more than 29,000 children.Meanwhile, Sheetz and M&T Bank recently presented Robert Buck, of Cumberland, Pa., with the Gas for a Year Sweepstakes grand prize: one full year of free gasoline. The total value of the prize is $1,500; 10 other winners received $100 Sheetz gift cards.
