Favorite Markets' Favorite Cause

Retailer contributes $175,000 to St. Jude

DALTON, Ga. -- During a luncheon ceremony Tuesday, Favorite Markets made a major cash contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The amount of the check was $175,000, representing one of the largest contributions ever by a local company.

Once again this year, I can't begin to tell you how proud we are to make another record-breaking contribution to St. Jude, one of the most deserving causes anywhere, said Sam Turner, president and CEO of Favorite Markets. The $175,000 total we raised in the Favorite Markets stores this year was through the [image-nocss] sale of the Coors paper pumpkins,' and each of our Favorite Markets participated. I am extremely proud of our employees' attitude and enthusiasm during our 2006 campaign.

He added, Our internal theme for our company of People Make the Difference' is never more appropriate than at this time of the year when we can help the less fortunate children of St. Jude. Our employees continue to make a difference, since they are the ones who made this major contribution possible. They continue to be very active and involved in soliciting contributions from our valued customers.

After the 2003, 2004 and 2005 campaigns, Favorite Markets was recognized as the No. 1 contributor to St. Jude among all convenience stores in the United States, the company said, adding that it was recognized as the No. 2 fundraiser among all U.S. retail stores.

Since Favorite Markets began its active involvement in 1998, the company has contributed more than $875,000 to St. Jude.

In addition to the pumpkin fundraiser, Favorite Markets conducted an incentive contest among all store managers, with cash awards to the top stores which raised the most money for St. Jude.

On behalf of nearly 1,000 employees, I am happy to say thanks' to our customers who have helped make our contributions and involvement possible, said Turner. We are firm believers in giving back to the communities where we work, and times like this are very special to our entire staff and to me personally.
