Giant Eagle Doubles Discount

Offer good at GetGo through late December

PITTSBURGH -- Giant Eagle Inc. announced Thursday that it will temporarily double its fuelperks! gasoline discounts when consumers purchase other retailers' gift cards.

According to a report by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the supermarket chain will offer a 20-cents-per-gallon discount at GetGo fuel and convenience store locations for every $50 spent using the Giant Eagle Advantage Card on other retailers' gift cards.

The Pittsburgh-based retail grocery chain said the offer began yesterday and will run until December 27.

Giant Eagle started offering people the gasoline for groceries discounts in July 2002. Under the fuelperks! program, customers usually get a 10-cents-per-gallon discount on gasoline at GetGo c-stores.

Giant Eagle said that customer savings can be accumulated up to the price of a free tank of gasoline, one vehicle only, with a maximum of 30 gallons in one transaction. Points can be redeemed by scanning a Giant Eagle Advantage Card at the GetGo pump.

The grocery retailer said in addition to gift cards and everyday grocery items, fuelperks! rewards may be earned on nonstate and federally funded pharmacy prescriptions, Dress for Success dry cleaning services and photo and video services. Purchases made of Giant Eagle/GetGo, American Express, MasterCard and Visa gift and reloadable cards, as well as those made online, are not eligible for the double fuelperks! Rewards, said the report.
