White Hen rolls out reloadable Pantry Select cards

LOMBARD, Ill. -- In early June, White Hen Pantry Inc. convenience stores began selling proprietary, reloadable White Hen gift cards. Using their Pantry Select cards, White Hen consumers in the Chicago area can now load and reload their card and then leave their cash at home, the company said.

"Our adult consumers want the ease of shopping at White Hen after their workout on Lake Shore Drive, for example, without worrying about putting cash into their back pocket," said Ari Goldsmith, White Hen advertising and marketing manager. "This card provides prepaid [image-nocss] convenience."

Pantry Select cards are also ideal for parents that look for alternatives to sending kids off in the summer with cash. "We know that kids are stopping in for one of White Hen's offerings: Hot & Fresh sandwiches, fountain drinks, Polar Blends, Gatorade, Icees, among other refreshing treats. Now, they can get all the items they crave at White Hen without worrying about carrying cash," added Ted Beilman, White Hen senior vice president of merchandising.

The Pantry Select card is White Hen's newest e-product to be added to its current lineup of more than 30 varieties of gift cards at different dollar nominations (Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Best Buy, Blockbuster, Joanne's Fabrics, Home Depot, American Express and many other department store, financial and telecommunication cards), and its touchscreen ordering system.

Lombard, Ill.-based White Hen has more than 265 predominantly franchisee-owned and operated c-stores serving customers in the Chicago and Boston areas.
