Making a Splash in Rewards

Centego, MetroSplash join forces to create common network for fuel rewards

DALLAS -- Centego Marketing Inc. and MetroSplash Systems Group Inc. said that the representation of MetroSplash products and services has been assigned exclusively to Centego, creating a common technology platform that will allow retailers in various channels of trade to issue and redeem cents-off-per-gallon fuel rewards.

The universal redemption FuelLinks network is currently comprised of branded convenient store major oil/gas operators and select grocery stores. MetroSplash and Centego have plans to expand FuelLinks to various channels of trade such [image-nocss] as national chain drug stores, home improvement stores, office product stores, online retailers, restaurants and automobile dealers.

Consumers will be thrilled to purchase products, earn free gasoline on their FuelLinks loyalty card, take their card to the pump and watch the pump roll back the price of gas reflecting the value of their earned rewards, said John Cullen, Centego president and COO.

What the future holds as a result of our alliance is that consumers may very well never pay for another gallon of gas. When going about their daily purchasing, what will matter is where you buy not what you buy. We expect thousands of retail stores across various channels of trade will be on the program with a vast network of fuel redemption centers accepting the FuelLinks card, he forecasted.

Our agreement with Centego creates a comprehensive fuel promotion solution for retailers and fuel centers looking to put fuel at the center of their rewards strategy, said Chris Daly, MetroSplash president and CEO. By combining the strength of these two companies, we have created the first common technology platform to issue and redeem fuel rewards; we're also utilizing the consumers preferred cents-off-per-gallon reward method; and third, we have the expertise to create, manage and optimize rewards for our retail partners.

As part of the agreement, Dallas-based Centego, a wholly owned subsidiary of AutoGas Systems Inc., obtained the right to use, market, practice and license the cents-off-per-gallon intellectual property owned by AutoGas.

Since 1997, shoppers using Centego's Fuel Rewards loyalty program have earned $585 million worth of free gasoline by purchasing household products, the company said. Pay at the pump innovator AutoGas, Abilene, Texas, acquired Centego in 2005.

Highland Village, Texas-based MetroSplash is the developer of FuelLinks, a cross-merchandising system that enables retail outlets to create customer loyalty programs and incentives by allowing them to offer consumers dynamically discounted gasoline prices based on in-store purchases.
